Why repair, not replace?
Every windscreen leaves the factory bonded to the body in perfect alignment. Once you replace it, that bond is only as good as the technician who did the work. Preserving the original glass keeps the original seal — always the safer, cheaper option.
A resin repair takes about 30 minutes. It stops the chip from spreading, restores most of the structural strength, and dramatically improves how the damage looks — though a faint mark often remains.
Ideal candidates for repair
- Chip smaller than a 20-cent coin.
- Damage away from the driver's direct line of sight.
- Chip not reaching the edge of the windscreen.
- Crack less than about 50mm long, ideally acted on within days.
Our repair process
- Clean and dry the chip; remove loose glass fragments.
- Vacuum air out of the damage under a sealed bridge.
- Inject optical-grade resin under pressure into the crack legs.
- UV-cure the resin so it hardens flush with the glass.
- Polish the outer surface for a smooth, near-invisible finish.
What we can't fix
If a crack has already spread beyond about 50mm, has multiple long legs, or sits in the driver's primary viewing area, we'll be honest and recommend replacement instead. Trapping moisture or dirt in a big crack under resin only weakens the eventual repair.
